| Communications and Reporting: The Crown Estate Communications and Reporting: The Crown Estate
Jones Lang LaSalle's Upstream Sustainability Services has provided strategic advice to The Crown Estate on sustainability for more than eight years. Since 2004 we have advised The Crown Estate through every step of the sustainability reporting process, and each year The Crown Estate has increased the sophistication and breadth of its reporting.
With Upstream Sustainability Services as its key adviser, The Crown Estate won a national award for its 2009 Sustainability Report. Sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, the award was for ‘Recognition for Excellence in Reporting in the Public Sector’. Our work on this report included:
monitoring and reviewing of corporate targets an advisory role on developing content collation and analysis of all social and environmental performance indicators and assistance with layout and design
John Lelliott, Director of Finance at The Crown Estate, commenting on the award, said: "It is an undoubted privilege to win this award, especially against such other notable entrants. Our sustainability report was the result of a team effort, including the invaluable input from our partners Upstream Sustainability Services, and I congratulate everyone who contributed."
The report also included a thought piece on reporting challenges that are specific to the real estate sector, contributing to the wider industry debate on best practice in Sustainability Reporting. Upstream Sustainability Services has also worked closely with The Crown Estate to deliver on some of its commitments such as working closely with managing agents to reduce water consumption across the portfolio.
