MMC was facing a data challenge. New compliance regulations under FSA and the Basle II accord meant that their existing data centre network just couldn’t cope. The strategic decision was taken to look for a new platform to support the EMEA network. A mirror site was required, and with it came a demanding brief for the Jones Lang LaSalle Data Centre team.

It was a big job and it needed to be done fast. We agreed the technical requirements in respect of power and cooling loads, undertook a detailed search of existing data centres and – having a found a site – started work on the due diligence. From this we were able to run a full financial analysis, scrutinise the landlord’s proposed technical upgrade and – in due course - negotiate the leasehold acquisition.

The upshot was the acquisition of an existing data centre as the primary site in EMEA, a significant financial contribution from the developer for enhancement to Tier 3, and a move to the new site before the expiry of the lease on the existing DC facility. It all adds up to a great example of our multidisciplinary working.
