Alan Campbell, professional sculler was sponsored by Jones Lang LaSalle in his bid for Gold at Beijing in 2008.

Alan, who originally hales from Coleraine, Northern Ireland, is a professional rower and Britain's leading single sculler.  He was discovered by the firm when the directors from the National Investment team held an away day at Henley which was led by Bill Barry, Alan’s manager, and which involved the team rowing on the Thames.  The team was captivated by Alan's story and his extraordinary dedication to achieve his target of gold in Beijing.

Alan Campbell sets sights on 2012
Saturday 16 August, Jones Lang LaSalle sponsored rower, Alan Campbell represented Great Britain in the Men´s Single Sculls final.  Alan, who sustained a serious knee injury just eight weeks before the start of the Olympics, fought hard for a medal spot and led for the first half of the race.  But as the strain of sustaining the pace he’d set took its toll, he eventually fell back to 5th place, finishing in a time of 7:04.47.

After the race Alan said: “I feel I can hold my head high.  I did my best and that is all you can ask.  This is not the last you have seen of me.  We will put together another four-year plan and I feel I can step up from here.”

Alan´s determination to recover from injury and to not only compete in the Olympics but to make it to the final is a great achievement and signifies what we can expect from this 25-year-old athlete who now has the London 2012 Olympics in his sights.  His participation has continued to generate great support both within our business and from our clients who have followed his progress.
